St. Columba’s College has an active Parents’ Association that organizes a wide range of events throughout the academic year.

The Parents’ Association helps to ensure that all parents feel part of the College community through the organization of formal and informal events throughout the school year. Parents are automatically members of the Parents’ Association and are encouraged to become actively involved in the Committee, which represents the interests of students.

Parents’ Association Newsletter

SCC PA June 2021 Newsletter

News Letter

As we get close to the end of this extraordinary year, The Parents’ Association would like to thank the Warden for keeping us all informed through all his numerous emails for what has been a trying and difficult year. It has been an extremely stressful year for everyone, especially the exam year students, their parents and the staff. We thank the staff for all their continued hard work.

We would especially like to thank all those parents who hosted overseas children during the time the school was closed.

Having had to cancel all planned social events for last year, we are hoping to get back to normal in September, with our new parents’ evening on the 1st September in the Clayton Hotel, Ballsbridge, which is open to all parents. More details to follow nearer the time.

Hopefully our coffee mornings in Whispering House will resume come September, along with speakers talks and guided walks, a careers evening for 5th and 6th years in collaboration with the Old Colomban Society.

The Parents’ Association has funded projects for the TY programme, donating a thousand euro to help fund social events such as an Art and Craft Day.

We contributed towards a TY small business initiative.

The Graduation Gifts for 6 Form Leavers, the PA again this year have sponsored silver cufflinks for the boys, and for the girls, beautiful personalised silver necklaces, kindly designed and made by Anna von Bergmann (5th Form parent).

The PA bought a bench in memory of Joshua Yang who sadly passed away last year in Ist year, the bench is made from Asian Teak with his name engraved on the back. The School held a dedication ceremony for the bench in memory of Joshua this week. Joshua’s friend Euan Flanagan gave a lovely recollection of his memories of Joshua’s time in St Columba’s and Rev. Owen said some prayers of dedication.

We would like to thank both parents and teachers who generously donated to the Joshua Yang appeal, which raised 8,400 euro for the Children’s charity Aoibheann’s Pink Tie.

Also in memory of Joshua we have purchased a Gingko Tree which will be planted near the Chapel.

Thank you in advance for all your generous donations to the Second Hand Uniform shop, without your support we wouldn’t be able to keep this valuable enterprise going.

Any donations are greatly received.

To all those students leaving the College, we wish them all the very best for the future.

Have a safe and Happy Summer.
